SOTA blends outdoor adventure with radio communication, encouraging amateur radio operators to activate (operate from) or chase (make contact with) designated summits. It is a self-managed, non-competitive awards system that rewards planning, skill, and passion for both nature and radio.
In Peninsular Malaysia, 9M2 SOTA Association maintains the regional summit database, supports local activators and chasers, and promotes responsible, enjoyable SOTA activity across the hills and mountains of West Malaysia.
We also issue softcopy certificates and digital plaques as local recognition for Malaysian SOTA participants. These are based on verified points recorded in the official SOTA database and serve to encourage more operators to explore, activate, and engage.
These digitally issued certificates celebrate your dedication, exploration, and contributions to the growth of SOTA in Malaysia.
Award Categories:
Perintis Certificate – Awarded at 20 points.
Penjelajah Certificate – Awarded at 60 points.
Penakluk Certificate– Awarded at 100 points.
Peneraju Certificate – Awarded at 150 points.
All points are verified through the official SOTA database https://www.sotadata.org.uk/en/. At this time, these awards are exclusive to Malaysian amateur radio operators, with plans to open to foreign participants in the future.
This is a local initiative by the 9M2 SOTA Association. The point thresholds are intentionally set lower to encourage participation. For official SOTA HQ awards and plaques, please refer to the SOTA Awards section at https://www.sota.org.uk/Joining-In/Awards
