Where 9M2 comes from
In amateur radio, 9M2 is the callsign prefix for Peninsular Malaysia, also known as West Malaysia. The 9M prefix identifies Malaysia, while 2 identifies the peninsula. In DXCC terms, contacts made from 9M2 count as West Malaysia. That regional identity is the origin of the 9M2 SOTA name: this association covers the summits of Peninsular Malaysia.
