The official West Malaysia association under the international Summits on the Air program. SOTA is a worldwide initiative that combines amateur radio with the adventure of operating from mountain summits. In West Malaysia, the 9M2 SOTA Association supports local activators and chasers as they explore and operate from 9M2 diverse peaks. Whether you're logging contacts from a remote ridge or chasing signals from home, 9M2 SOTA connects Malaysian hams to the global community through nature, radio, and shared passion.

Summits on the Air (SOTA) is a worldwide amateur radio programme that encourages portable operation from designated mountain summits. In West Malaysia, the SOTA association is known by the prefix 9M2. Whether you are a licensed amateur operator or a SWL looking to explore the combination of outdoor adventure and radio operation, joining SOTA is both rewarding and accessible.
The 9M2 SOTA Association Manual is the official reference document for all Summits on the Air (SOTA) activities in West Malaysia. It outlines the complete list of validated summits, summit reference codes, elevations, geographic coordinates, and point values. In addition, it defines the rules and guidelines specific to the 9M2 region, in accordance with the global SOTA General Rules.

This page recognises Malaysian amateur radio operators who have earned achievement awards through the 9M2 Summits on the Air (SOTA) program. These awards are based on verified points from the official SOTA database and celebrate dedication to both radio operations and outdoor activity across Peninsular Malaysia.
The Worked All Malaysian Award (WAMA) is issued by the Malaysian Amateur Radio Transmitters’ Society (MARTS) to recognize radio amateurs and SWLs who successfully contact or hear stations from all major regions of Malaysia.

Licensed amateur radio operators from other countries who are visiting Malaysia — either for travel, work, or temporary stays — may apply for a temporary operating license through the Malaysian Amateur Radio Transmitters’ Society (MARTS). MARTS acts as the liaison between foreign operators and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC).
Located between two and seven degrees north of the Equator, Malaysia is formed by 13 states – Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang, Johor, Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, Selangor, Perak, Pulau Pinang, Kedah, Perlis, Sabah and Sarawak; and three Federal Territories – Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, and Labuan. Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan are located in East Malaysia, while others are in Peninsular Malaysia.
